The CV and Development of Post Conceptual Art & Ungraven Image theory founder & artist

Judy Rey Wasserman

2008

August

Again asked by Bill Fine, Judy Rey covers Art in the Hamptons for the August newsletter under the same byline.

A group of smaller paintings for the book, which will also fit in a large canvas portfolio and can be brought to NYC to show to select galleries is completed Work continues on the book.

Continues to revise the web site, hidden site and completes the revisions on the manifesto.

Late August, for the first time in a year begins sending out signed copies of the now revised limited edition manifesto.

July

Uploads new still work in progress PDF copies of the revised, "Manifesto of Post Conceptual UnGraven Image Art theory -- A Painting's Meaning is Inherent in its Strokes".

Completes the first draft of the first section that comprises about half of the self-help inspirational book.

Attends ArtHamptons with the intention of networking and blogging on it. Attending a panel discussion Judy Rey is discovered by artnet's President Bill Fine, who asks her to write on the fair for its newsletter. After emailing links and information of credentials as a writer and artist writes artmet.com's July newsletter under the byline, "Judy Rey Wasserman is the founder and artist of Post Conceptual UnGraven Image Art theory".

April - June

Since the old blog software is incompatible with other blog software, creates over 120 unique pages for articles on the web site, which also gets a general overhaul for the new host. Editing over two years worth of former blogs, culls articles to be rewritten for chapters in the book. Continues working on the book.

Realizes that painting with symbol strokes to create imagery is not just a next step from Conceptual, especially Word Art, it is Post Conceptual Art. Begins again revising the manifesto.

Begins painting more works 24 x 30 inches and under as they will photograph well for they book and prints.

March

The on-going problems with the website's blogging software come to a head dealing with uploading the blog on the ADAA Art Fair. The software continues to reformat and even "eat" the text, plus the web host and shopping cart are showing too many instances of downtime.

Researches blogging software, shopping carts (for the reproduction limited edition prints.

Completes the 58 x 72 inches canvas in the Genesis: Sunset-Sunrise series.

Continues work on the book.

January-Early March

Completes another of the larger 48 x 36 inches canvas, several smaller works and works on a 58 x 72 inch canvas, plus continues working in the Essence portraiture series.

2007

November - December

Inspired by research for a blog that deals with portraiture shows in Chelsea, when Artists Space requests a drawing be contributed for their Night of 1000 drawings benefit, uses Psalm 19 (her favorite) to create a black and white portrait of Andy Warhol. Despite a horrible crowd inhibiting storm on the night of the benefit Judy Rey's drawing sells.

The Warhol drawing inspires a new series, the Essence series of portraits. Following the Warhol, she creates portraits of Rembrandt and Monet.

The Essence series also gives the idea for the structure of shows and books, including the first book, which has a chapter outline by the end of the year.

Completes a second 48 x 36 inches canvas, mixed media, in the Genesis: Sunset-Sunrise series, plus other smaller works.

Again donates a postcard to VisualAIDs “Postcards from the Edge”, which sells.

July

Solo show of reproductive prints, now 21 in all at the Madelle Hegeler Gallery, Southampton

Completes largest UnGraven Image canvas to date, 48 x 36 inches, mixed media.

Realizes that since the focus is on the stroke any narrative (imagery) of an UnGraven Image work serves to reference the strokes. This importance is that this is a radical 180 degree turn from most all art practice and theory where the strokes serve to create the narrative. Revises Manifesto.

June

Experiments with the newly available watercolor canvases lead to mixed media canvases and larger works.

Along with David Wasserman Robles sketches out ideas for the videos/movie. Writes short script. Pre-production begins.

May/June

Finishing touches on a large hidden web site accessible only-by-invitation for fine art galleries, collectors, critics and curators. Completes and includes a proposal for an initial solo show featuring the Genesis: Sunset-Sunrise series.

May & April

Featured speaker at meeting of the CCR about the theory of UnGraven Image.

Blogs that cover art shows in NYC begin to appear with regularity on the web site

First Trees of Life seminar for non-painters for the Southampton Jewish Center.

Attends a seminar given by Peter Marcelle ( the dealer who handled the sale of Wyeth's Helga paintings) and realizes that since UnGraven Image is a new theory of art, and the only theory of religious art to come from the USA, she should hold off showing anywhere and prepare larger works towards representation with a good contemporary gallery. Doubles up the effort to scout out galleries in NYC.

March

Publishes first copy of Manifesto of UnGraven Image Art, a 16 page booklet.

February/March

Contacted by email and by peoples of Eastern faiths, and then through research realizes that using Torah font , a binary font, makes UnGraven Image relevant for those who practice binary based or have major precepts that are binary, including Taoism, Buddhism and Hinduism. UnGraven Image becomes a religious art theory that includes the world's major religions, a huge new understanding.

February

Attends ADAA's the Art Fair & the Armory Show and gets the idea of writing a manifesto from the display at the Ronald Feldman Gallery booth.

The blog on the fairs create further reception and readership on the Internet, and also contacts with galleries. It is also published in print by Southampton Artists Association.
